Receiving OTA Updates on SOL-X SmartWatch

Keeping the SOL-X SmartWatch up to date ensures that all critical safety features, performance enhancements, and compliance improvements are running as expected. OTA (Over-the-Air) updates allow the watch to receive new software versions directly without needing to connect to a computer.

How It Works

The SOL-X backend team remotely pushes updates to the vessel or facility, after which crew can manually install the update when in a designated Wi-Fi zone (Zone A). The process is slightly different based on whether you're onboard a vessel or at a facility, but both follow the same logic.

Steps for OTA Update – Onboard Vessel

Important: Cabin areas without Wi-Fi will not support OTA updates. Move to Zone A (Wi-Fi) to initiate.

1. Check Conditions

• Ensure the watch is charged.

• Move to a known Wi-Fi zone on the vessel.

2. Software Update Detection

• Watch will prompt: “New update available.”

3. Begin Update Process

• Tap the red button to open the screen.

• Press Install when prompted.

4. Installation Begins

• The update installs automatically.

• Do not press the Silver Button during this phase.

5. Completion Flow

• Once installed, the watch will reboot and return to login.

• Software version info will be visible post-login.

6. Final Step

• Restart watch if needed.

• Return to normal operation after successful login.

Steps for OTA Update – At Facility

Important: OTA prompts won’t appear in low Wi-Fi areas. Please ensure your device is in a Zone A (Wi-Fi) zone.

1. Move to Wi-Fi Zone

• Wait until OTA update prompt appears.

2. Trigger the Update

• Check for update using the menu:
  Settings > Check for Update

• Select “Install” if update is found.

3. Watch Update Process

• The update will download and install automatically.

• Do not press the Silver Button during download.

4. Completion & Reboot

• After installation, the watch will reboot and show new software version.

• If it does not return to login, restart the watch manually.

Safety Notes

• Do not press the Silver Button during download or installation. It may crash the update.

• To view the update progress or return to the main screen, press the Red Button only.

• Always ensure stable Wi-Fi for update success.
